The list of bidders vying for the business includes India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), global investor KKR and Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries, according to insiders cited by the media.

Shell was said to have re-launched an auction for Sprng in October, this time pursuing an outright sale. A previous attempt to sell a portion of the business was abandoned after the British firm failed to attract a buyer, according to earlier reports.

Sprng Energy specialises in wind and solar. Shell took over the company in a USD-1.55-billion (EUR 1.32bn) deal completed in 2022.
