South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), Bihar’s power distribution utility, has issued a tender seeking online bids from eligible and experienced agencies, firms, companies, and state or central government undertakings to develop grid-connected 275 MW rooftop solar projects. Bids are open until January 29, 2026.

This places Bihar alongside other poorly performing states such as Punjab, which has recorded 10,792 installations and added 49.02 MW of capacity to date, having received ₹76.6 crore in subsidies. Bihar’s numbers account for less than 1% of the applications, and under 0.75% of installations so far, while accounting for over 9% of India’s population.
