Goodbye to ketchup, mayonnaise, and salt packets: the EU will eliminate them to reduce plastic waste
From August 2026, diners in the 27 countries of the European Union will no longer find individual sachets of ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, sugar, or oil in restaurants and cafes.
The measure is part of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), specifically designed to reduce the plastic waste generated by the EU and promote the reuse of packaging and materials.
