Iberdrola Germany has officially commissioned a 65 MWp photovoltaic (PV) solar plant in Saxony-Anhalt, providing 100% renewable electricity for Salzgitter AG’s green steel production. The solar park spans 45 hectares—roughly the size of 60 football pitches—and comprises over 92,000 solar modules.

The project forms part of a 15-year long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) between Iberdrola and Salzgitter AG, under which 900 GWh of renewable electricity will be supplied over the contract period. The solar plant is expected to generate approximately 60 GWh annually, enough to power more than 20,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 23,000 tonnes each year.
