LONDON – UK fashion and textile retailers are unlikely to meet their 2040 net-zero target without government intervention, according to a new five-year progress report from the British Retail Consortium (BRC).

Entitled ‘UK Retail’s Road to Net Zero’, the study concludes that more than 93% of emissions remain in Scope 3 — with apparel, footwear and home textiles heavily exposed through fibre production, manufacturing, logistics and product use.
