International engineering consultancy Penspen has secured a major pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) contract from CO2 Pipeline Schweiz AG to support the development of a national carbon dioxide transport network in Switzerland.

The study will focus on the high-level design of a core CO2 pipeline corridor connecting Basel and Zurich, while also assessing potential onward connections across eastern and central Switzerland. The project forms part of the country’s broader strategy to establish large-scale carbon transport infrastructure capable of supporting emissions reduction targets and enabling future carbon capture and storage deployment.

Penspen’s engineering teams in Aberdeen and London will deliver the work, which is scheduled for completion in March 2027.
