Valenciaport Sets Ambitious Targets for 2035: Full Energy Self-Sufficiency and Zero Emissions
Valenciaport has unveiled a comprehensive strategy focused on achieving carbon neutrality and complete energy self-sufficiency across its facilities in Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandía by the year 2035. This move reflects a paradigm shift toward sustainable port operations, emphasizing environmental responsibility without sacrificing economic and commercial growth.
The Net Zero Emissions Plan: A Collaborative Blueprint
The plan, endorsed by the Port Authority of Valencia, is more than just an internal policy—it sets a framework for the entire port community, engaging shipping companies, terminal operators, land transport providers, and port services. The financial muscle behind this initiative is solid, with a total investment of €900 million planned or already underway. Of this, the Port Authority itself is committing €605 million, while private investors contribute €295 million.
