Will Ukrainian energy become a magnet for EU green investments?
In the European energy sector, 2022–2025 became a period of rethinking. Just yesterday, the world was trying to find a balance between cheap gas, the growth of green energy, and the logic of the electricity market. But today, Europe is already building new networks, introducing digital rules for trade transparency, and preparing space for industries that are sharply increasing demand for electricity, starting with data centres and ending with electric transport.
During this same time, Ukraine has lived several “energy lives”. It lost energy infrastructure facilities after missile strikes and simultaneously synchronised with the European network, put into operation the largest energy storage systems in the region, and reshaped the investment optics of business. It is painful, but productive: the war forced us to move from the “theory of transition” to the “practice of sustainability”.
